EASTER EGG HUNT—The 5th Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held on March 28. Bates Nut Farm has hosted this event for the past three years. Organizers need volunteers to help with craft tables, prize tables, and helping with the areas of the hunt. If you know of a group or youth that needs community service hours, have them contact: Elizabeth Usher at 760- 749-4902. The event will begin with setup at 8:00 a.m. and end at –noon for set-up through the hunt, with crafts beginning at 9:30 and the actual hunt at 10:30.* * *

RETURN OF EDDY—Former VC Honorary Mayor “Left Eddy” has lots of friends in town who were happy to see that he was back in the area after about six months visiting Greece, his ancestral homeland. Eddy has traveled back to Greece many times before, always prompting people to ask, “Where’s Eddy?”

STATE HONOR—Dave Roberts, vice chairman of the county Board of Supervisors, has earned a state-level appointment through the California State Association of Counties.

The appointment to the California State Controller’s Advisory Committee on County Accounting Procedures came by way of a nomination from the association of counties. State Controller Betty Yee confirmed Roberts’ appointment last week.

“At the County of San Diego, we take great pride in our balanced budgets, AAA bond rating and capital program that keeps borrowing to a minimum,” Roberts said. “My participation on this state panel will only strengthen our financial management.”

BOOK SIGNING—Author Linda- Sundstrom of Valley Center and her author friends will be in San Diego on February 28 for a book signing and paranormal party at Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore. If you’re in San Diego, or close by, come on over and party with Linda, Lisa Kessler, Samantha Sommersby.

ART AUCTIONS—Panache Invitational Art Auctions will hold a gala event benefiting the Escondido Municipal Gallery. The auction event will be held March 21, 5:30—8 p.m. in the gallery. Auctioneer will be Eric Lehew. A preview reception will be held March 14.

The Municipal Gallery will also hold a Happy Valentine’s Day exhibit as part of the 2nd Saturday ArtWalk. The event will happen on February 14,3-5 p.m.

Enjoy a Music Benefit with Rita Sweeting, Spoken Word with Papa- Dread, Adhina Reggae/AfroBeat, Ruben De Anda, and The Boogie Woogie Due from 5:30–8 p.m.

Exhibitions: include Food For Thought, Ron Young, the PhotoArts Group, and studios for Renee Richetts, Gallery Too, Carrie Repking, Bettina Heinz, Woody Woodman and Patrick Brown 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.

There will be food and music.

MUSIC BOOSTERS CONCERT— Valley Center/Pauma Music Boosters Present

18th annual VC Jazz Concert featuring the San Diego State University Jazz Band and the Award-Winning Valley Center Middle and High School Jazz Bands and High School Choirs. The concert is free.

The site of the concert is Valley Center High School Gym, 31322 Cole Grade Road. Doors open at 1 p.m. in the Valley Center High School Gym for tacos, burgers, potato soup and desserts for purchase, until one hour after the show.

The Concert will begin at 2 p.m. with the Valley Center Middle and High School Jazz Bands and Choir, all of which have won competition after competition. The San Diego State University Jazz Band will headline with their professional touch for the afternoon and conclude with all bands in the finale.

This marks the 18th year this jazz fundraiser will be offered with quality entertainment including VC jazz and choir students.

NEW DATE FOR MEMORIAL— The memorial service for Jean Kraus has been changed to Saturday, February 28 at 1 p.m. at Light of the Valley Lutheran Church, Lilac Road. Valley Center.
