Escondido Public Library invites adult readers to join the 2nd Tuesday Book Club meeting on May 10, at 6 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. This month’s selection is “Rebecca” by Daphne du Maurier. Copies of the book are available for check out and may be reserved in the Library catalog at library.escondido.org.
“Rebecca” is a tale of passion, secrets, and betrayal. The story begins in Monte Carlo, where the heroine is swept off her feet by the dashing widower Maxim de Winter and his sudden proposal of marriage. Orphaned and working as a lady’s maid, she can barely believe her luck. It is only when they arrive at his massive country estate that she realizes how large a shadow his late wife will cast over their lives.
The 2nd Tuesday Book Club will continue on June 14, as a part of the Library’s annual Summer Reading Challenge for kids, teens, and adults which runs from June 13 to July 31 and encourages community members of all ages to Exercise Your Mind.
The June selection is “Code Talker: The First and Only Memoir by One of the Original Navajo Code Talkers of WWII” by Chester Nez. The selection for July 12, 2016 is “The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics” by Daniel James Brown.
