109th Chamber installation Friday: “A Starlit Gala”

Rorie Johnston during her last week at the Escondido Chamber of Commerce. She has been CEO for 6 and a half years and is moving soon to Arizona. She will be honored at Friday night’s Chamber installation dinner.

One hundred and nine years is a long time. Long enough that it is doubtful that anyone who attended the first formal Escondido Chamber of Commerce event is still around. However, if they were I’m sure they would tell you there was no such thing as “light pollution” in 1910, and you could see stars each and every night here in Escondido.

Well, times have changed and light pollution is real, but on Friday, June 14 you will indeed be able to see “stars” here in Escondido. Our community, business, and Chamber stars at this year’s Installation & Awards Dinner…A Starlit Gala!

Being held in the Museum at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, this annual event acknowledges a selection of business and community leaders who have been voted as awardees in a variety of categories. Such as Family Owned Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, the Jim Felix Community Volunteer of the Year, the Jack Raymond Civic Engagement Leadership Award, and more. It also serves as the time and place when new Chamber board members and ambassadors are sworn in for their new terms at the Chamber of Commerce.

Always a lively affair with the who’s who of Escondido attending, the evening will start off with live music from Trade Secret, featuring long-time Escondido resident Tina Inscoe on vocals. There will be cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a gourmet themed dinner prepared by Eric Ybarra, executive chef at California Center for the Arts. The pomp and circumstance of the awards and installation will then commence.

The affair will also be the final event for current Chamber President & CEO, Rorie Johnston, who is stepping down from her role at the Chamber as she and her husband, Mark, prepare for a move to Arizona.

If you’d like to attend the festivities, the tickets are $125 person, dinner attire is requested, and tickets and more information can be found at the Escondido Chamber of Commerce website.
