Escondido Republican Club (TERC) to meet Monday, May 15

Kristin Gaspar, San Diego County Supervisor for District 3, will be the guest speaker for ‘The Escondido Republican Club’s’ (TERC) monthly lunchtime meeting on Monday, May 15.

Supervisor Gaspar is currently serving as the vice chairman of the board.

The meeting will be held at the Cocina del Charro Restaurant located at 890 West Valley Pkwy.,

Escondido.  Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. with the buffet luncheon service starting at 11:45 a.m. The meeting begins promptly at noon and concludes at 1 p.m.

Escondido Democratic Club to meet May 13

The Democratic Club of Escondido will meet May 13, 10 a.m. Park Avenue Community Center (formerly Joslyn Senior Center) Auditorium Room when their guest will be the newest member of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.

Supervisor Kristin Gaspar represents District 3 including Escondido, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo, Miramar and Rancho Santa Fe.  Prior to serving on the Board of Supervisors, Gaspar was the first woman elected mayor of Encinitas.

Join the meeting to hear from elected officials and candidates, learn about volunteer opportunities, trainings and other updates.

There will be a training opportunity at noon for those who want to learn about engaging neighbors for political activism.

Library presents Navy Band Southwest Woodwind Quintet

Escondido Public Library will present the unique sound of Navy Band Southwest Woodwind Quintet on Tuesday, June 6, at 6 p.m. in the Turrentine Room.

With over 80 years of support to the San Diego community, Navy Band Southwest serves the military and civilians throughout the Southwestern United States. Blending the individual sounds of the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and saxophone, the Quintet creates a highly eclectic sonic palette. They will perform works from various genres, with an emphasis on popular American composers such as Aaron Copland and Samuel Barber.

50 plus reunion for Cougars

The Escondido High School Cougars will celebrate their 50 plus Golden Reunion Picnic, Saturday, May 20, 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m. at Grape Day Park.

This year they will be welcoming the Class of 1967.

Join the group the night before on Friday, May 19 for the annual Cruisin’ Night. Bring a chair, relax, visit and stroll Grand Avenue.
