The Escondido Downtown Business Association presents: “For the Love of Chocolate – Chocolate Festival” Saturday, February 11, 1– 5 p.m. downtown.

Over 20 downtown businesses are participating. Here’s how it works –

You purchase your “Passport Ticket.” With this passport, you walk to each business that’s participating and sample the chocolate themed items they’re serving paired with wine or beer. Tickets cost $35 if you purchase them between now and 5 p.m. on February 10 or $45 on February 11. Here are the website links you need:

On the same day, the Grand Tea Room will be serving Champagne, Buccaneer Tea (black tea flavored with chocolate and coconut), Scones with strawberry and white chocolate chips, Red Velvet Cupcakes, Brownies with caramel & pecans and one other chocolate dessert.

There will also be romantic horse drawn carriage rides. There are other fun things going on that day.

Chicken sandwich giveaways

Chick-fil-A restaurants are giving away free breakfast entrées on Wednesdays in February.

The nine Chick-fil-A restaurants in San Diego County, including the Chick-fil- A restaurants at 1290 Auto Park Way in Escondido and 587 Grand Ave. in San Marcos, will give a free breakfast entrée to every guest between 6:30 and 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday morning throughout the month of February. The free entrées will vary from week to week, including Chick-n-Minis (3 count) on Feb. 8 and 22 and a Chicken Biscuit on Feb. 15.

“Many of our San Diego customers are not aware of the wide range of breakfast options we offer,” said Matt Hughes, Chick-fil-A franchise operator of Chick-fil- A on Sports Arena Boulevard in San Diego. “We invite customers to join us for a complimentary breakfast in February to try some of our great signature breakfast entrées.”

The Chick-n-Minis feature three, bite-sized nuggets in warm, mini-yeast rolls. The Chicken Biscuit features a breakfast portion of the famous boneless breast of chicken served on a freshly baked buttermilk biscuit. No purchase is required. Limit of one free entrée per customer per day. Offer consists of entrée only, not a meal. Offer is valid for both in-restaurant dining and drive-through.

Trash pick-up and recycling on Presidents’ Day

There will be no delay in waste and recycling collection services on Monday, February 20. EDCO’s customer service offices, including its recycling centers and public disposal sites, will also remain open. This includes Fallbrook Waste and Recycling Services and Daily Disposal.
