John Paul the Great Catholic University (JPCatholic) has launched a new blog “Impacting Culture.” Our professors and community contribute original content to the site by examining issues of media, culture, and theology. Viewers can find everything from faculty interviews on current events and movie reviews, to scripture reflections and updates on alumni achievements.
An example: one of the blog’s writers/movie critics has listed his choice of the best films of 2016, as well as some other reviews. Other popular posts include weekly video Gospel reflections from JPCatholic’s Fr. Richard Pagano, a special lecture on the Dead Sea Scrolls, and an in-depth faculty discussion on Martin Scorsese’s film “Silence.”
John LaCrosse of JPCatholic told The Times-Advocate: “Through the powerful videos and articles on this site, JPCatholic draws on its academic strengths, as a university focused on media and theology, to establish itself as a thought leader on these issues. On our blog, users can find a Christian perspective to the often-secular media industry. Through this site, we strive to impact culture in a positive manner by presenting our thoughts, engaging viewers, and starting discussions on the issues that surround us today.”
