The Escondido Union School District (EUSD) and the Escondido Education COMPACT hosted the sixth annual Peace Begins with ME Youth Festival on Saturday, April 1 at Grape Day Park (321 N. Broadway, Escondido).

The Peace Begins with ME Youth Festival is a component of the EUSD’s commemoration of the Season for Peace and Nonviolence.  During the Season for Peace and Nonviolence, all EUSD schools host activities to promote peace, such as peace walks, assemblies, and community service projects.

Activities included hands-on craft projects, music and dancing, Kids Zumba, and activities coordinated through the City of Escondido’s Recreation Department.

Kids learned about peace and non-violence.

“Our district is built on the principles of trust, respect, civility, integrity, diversity, and teamwork,” commented Dr. Luis Ibarra, superintendent of the Escondido Union School District. “The Festival brings together students, families and community partners in a day of celebration of peace and non-violence in our region.”
