Escondido woman to present talk at Ignite San Diego Event

Edna Nerona, professional speaker and performer, has been selected as one of 18 presenters at the upcoming Ignite San Diego event being held Thursday, May 11,  at the McMillin Companies Event Center at Liberty Station, 6 – 10 p.m.

A creative showcase for ideas and stories, Ignite San Diego is a fast-paced event where San Diego locals have five minutes to present a slideshow of any topic to the audience, with the intention of fostering interest, collaboration or inspiration. The event will also offer live music from San Diego bands, craft beer, food and networking opportunities.

Nerona’s talk is entitled, “Childfree and Happy.”

“When you choose not to have kids, people jump to judgement.”  she said. “They assume I hate children and that my life lacks meaning or purpose. I love children.  But parenting isn’t for everyone.  I wanted show that those of us who choose to be childfree are still loving, caring, and responsible people.”

This is the second time Nerona has been selected to present at Ignite San Diego.  In the Fall of 2015, she presented “Being Connie Chung.”

Nerona is a standup comedian, pianist, and award winning speaker.  For four years,  she was a public speaking trainer for the San Diego Charger Girls.  She is a member of the National Speakers Association and has won many speech contests within Toastmasters International.   As standup comedian, she has performed around San Diego, including the Comedy Store in La Jolla.  She also loves playing the piano.  In 2016, she took part in the San Diego International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs.  Her website is:  www.ednaspeaks.com
