LIGHT OF THE VALLEY

LUTHERAN CHURCH

Lunch and Bingo

Light of the Valley Church will be hosting its monthly Lunch and Bingo Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. This fun event is open to all in the Community. If you would like to join the group for lunch and some fun games of Bingo, call Cheryl Jenkel at 619-885- 5033.

ST. STEPHEN CATHOLIC CHURCH

We celebrate Catechetical Sunday because it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Parents also are recognized, as they are truly the primary catechists of their children.

Catechists are: Bridget Banner – Kindergarten, Billee Calabrese – 1st year Sacrament prep, Jana Schwerdtfeger – 2nd year Sacrament prep, Cheryl Jensen – 3rd grade, Kathy Eckert – 4th grade, Lenny Passafiume – 5th grade, Katherine Splane – 1st year Sacrament prep – grades 3+.

CCD begins this week, with Middle School and High School youth beginning next week. RCIA begins this week and continues throughout the year. Dawn Patrol is at 6:45 a.m. each Wednesday morning with Mass on the 1st Wednesday of the month. Confirmation formation starts Sunday, September 27.

Friday is the Freshmen Retreat at Broken Rock Ranch in Valley Center from 5:30 p.m. to noon on Saturday. There will be food, games, swimming, praise and worship, etc.

Women’s Retreat Reunion will begin at 5:30 p.m., Friday, October 2 beginning with Mass followed by Hors d’oeuvres and wine in Briscoe hall. Pictures from the retreat will be shown along with faith sharing and announcements about future retreats.

Coming October 10 is a Country Western Dinner and Dance so bring your family, neighbors and friends for a Western Style dinner with barbecue ribs or chicken, line dancing with lessons, face painting, popcorn, and hot dogs for the kids. The public is invited.
