Ben Rosario Giordano, 90, longtime Escondido resident




 

 

Ben Rosario Giordano, 90, native of Kenner, Louisiana, died on October 1, 2016.

A longtime resident of Escondido he was a retired Master Sergeant of the US Marine Corps. A WWII veteran serving in the Fourth Division he survived Marshall Islands and Saipan. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation. He was a retired US Postal Letter Carrier. He devoted many years volunteering to the VA as a driver for the DAV. He was also an avid golfer.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice (Ray) Ramer of Ferndale, Washington, grandchildren Paul (Catherine) Ramer of Modesto, Mike Ramer of Escondido, Tracy (Chris) Taylor of Portland, Oregon, Jeffrey (Kirsty) Taylor of Sydney, Australia, Rhonda (Michael) Hall of Bedford, New Hampshire, Richard (Jennifer) Giordano of Pembroke, New Hampshire, Rebekah Giordano of Bozeman, Montana. Son-in-law Gary Taylor of Oroville and daughter-in-law Mary Stewart-Giordano of Escondido and many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Leona Faye (Fields) of Escondido, son Ben Robert Giordano of Escondido, Eva Taylor of Oroville, grandchild Mitch Ramer of Escondido.

Services were held Friday, October 7 at at Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery in Escondido.
