Art Association invites submissions to “Celebrate Grand Escondido” show




The Escondido Art Association, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to promote the arts in North County San Diego, invites artists of all ages, members and non-members alike, to participate in its 2nd annual “Celebrate Grand Escondido” open judged 2-D art show.

A total of $1,075 in prize money, as well as free entries to future shows, will be awarded in the following four categories: Watercolor; Oil/Acrylic; Photography/Digital; and, Other (mixed media, pastel, pen & ink, etc.)

According to a spokesman for the association: “This exhibition of artwork will focus on the diversity that Escondido has to offer and all entries must adhere to the theme of promoting the pride and promise in the Grand City of Escondido in order to be eligible for an award. Richard Stergulz, an award winning figurative and portrait artist from Fallbrook, whose works hang in galleries in Santa Monica, Idylwild and Vista will judge the competition. The show will run from October 4 – 28, at the Artists Gallery on 121 W. Grand Ave., Escondido.

The exhibit will coincide with the Grand Avenue Festival scheduled for Sunday, October 16, thus providing prime exposure for the artists. The reception and awards ceremony, open to the public, will be held at the Artists Gallery. Second Saturday artwalk day, October 8, from 5 – 8 p.m. with the awards presented at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
